She didn't pack me a lunch, but use to bring Quarter Pounders etc. to the office for me. I'd get a call like 5 minutes before lunch to come to the office and pick up some killer take out. She did it all the time, the other kids were jealous. They'd be eating their nasty stay at home mom sand and I'm scarfing done a double bacon burger.

My working mom managed to make homemade lunches, and I appreciated the extra effort she put in to do so.

I love my mom, but me learning how to cook was necessitity, cooking isn't her deal. She still weighs like 105 pounds, not an eater affects her cooking. Bottom line is I learned to cook and I'm glad. I've dated over bearing moms who won't let their kids near the kitchen. Firing up the smoker and got a 6 pound Sockeye to slap on there tomorrow.

Her income was stellar though. I loved the truck was able to get me in 11th grade, Thanks mom!!

I loved learning how to cook from my mom, and enjoy cooking with her now. But, you're right about having to learn. It's either that or remaining on fast food for life, albeit a shorter one ;)

With all the new food-nanny regulations in schools these days, she would be wrestled to the ground, handcuffed and burgers confiscated if she tried that now.     :-)

I think that lady's comment wasn't meant to be demeaning to stay-at-home moms.  I think she felt that Ann was a rich lady and had nannies, housekeepers, chefs etc (legal or illegal).   Not only wasn't she working outside the home, but she probably didn't do much inside the house either.

My wonderful mom worked outside the house, but I don't think we lacked for anything.  I'm glad she didn't sacrifice her future (her retirement wasn't based only on our dad, although they're still married and enjoying their retirement together) to raise us.    I know some great stay-a-home moms and I think this is more of a gender issue because if dads stayed at home, it would be considered work.  Women who work in the home are working, but Ann probably wasn't raising her kids or cleaning the house without help (nannies, maids, etc that usual/normal stay-at-home moms typically don't have).   By saying Ann hasn't worked a day in her life, I think the lady was talking about maids and nannies that made Ann's job much much easier.   But, she probably has worked more than John Kerry's wife.

Sorry for stereotyping the rich or for assuming things about Romney's and Kerry's wives.

Her son has come out to say that they didn't have outside help. Maybe she shouldn't have assumed so much before speaking.

Alot of ASSumptions being thrown around.   Glad to see some of them being disproven.
