The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has been clear about where they stand on protecting the poor in the federal budget.

But they are only useful to the GOP partisans when the topic is sexuality or abortion. The rest of the time they are supposed to STFU.                                                         

There are very good reasons why it is good to give.  Especially conscious giving.
