This is a historical day for me - speaking into an electronic void without any idea where my idea will go. But I cannot listen any longer to the myopic Republicans with such short-term memory. How dare karl Rove compare the CBO's report to Enron accounting? After all, on whose watch did Enron accounting destroy so many lives and futures? (I live in Houston and I have seen the close collaboration between the Bushes and Ken Lay) On whose watch did a cosmic disregard by Wall Street for the middle class destroy so many lives and futures? If indeed this health care reform is "Armageddon for the country" then the Republicans can gloat and return to their kind of government - by fiat, by executive order (and how dare they now challenge the President's right to use that tool???). I heard John Cornryn bemoan the fate of "members of the House of Representatives who have walked the political plank and voted against their self-interest in terms of their ability to be re-elected". Whose interest does he think he is there to serve in the first place? I hope they all lose in the coming elections. Surely technology can provide an HONEST tool whereby the voting public can vote directly on legislature, which is put together by aides and lobbyists anyway. A final thought - while this action may cost the American taxpayer some money, it is the right thing to do, and will perhaps limit the government's future ability to start wars where we don't belon
