San Ygnacio, Texas, was put on high alert today, due to the border violence occuring in Mexico.  The Zapata County and Webb County Police are working in conjunction with the Border Patrol agents, with helicopters and big weaponry.  Local officials from the surrounding counties were called in to help protect the town of about 800 residents. The local elementary school A. L. Benavides was in lock down until 4:30 p.m. today, until officials could secure the area.  There is currently a sniper on the water tower overwatching the town.
