San Ygnacio, Texas, was put on high alert today, due to the
border violence occuring in Mexico. The Zapata County and Webb County Police
are working in conjunction with the Border Patrol agents, with helicopters and
big weaponry. Local officials from the surrounding
counties were called in to help protect the town of about 800 residents. The local
elementary school A. L. Benavides was in lock down until 4:30 p.m. today, until
officials could secure the area. There
is currently a sniper on the water tower overwatching the town.
