I am a conservative heterosexual married Christian who believes homosexuality is a sin. I want to point that out BEFORE you read my comments about your statement so that you can best understand my general unbias towards this issue:
===================================
1) This is not a Christian nation, was not founded by Christians (only 1 of all the major founding fathers was a Christian), and they agreed it should NOT be founded on Christian principles (see the treaty of peace and friendship of Tripoli article 11, written 1797 if you doubt me).
===================================
2) Each citizen is granted the right to live their lifestyle of choice so long as it doesn't cause major chaos (such as murder, death, injury, servitude, car crashes, etc). If you have an issue with this then you have an issue with our Constitution and its founding fathers.
==================================
3) Our founding fathers believed "that government which governs least governs best" -Thomas Jefferson. This means all things default to being legal until there is an absolute need to make it illegal due to major social chaos (see point 2 on defining major chaos).
==================================
4) You and I may have our definitions of marriage, but we are not entitled nor have any right to impose our beliefs on another person and vice versa. If a homosexual thinks they can be married and we think they can't...their opinion wins for their lifestyle and choices. Our opinion means nothing and should do nothing to impose on their lifestyle of choice.
