First of all, I want to say thank you to all of the military spouses out there who keep the home fires burning while our spouses are gone. It is not easy being left behind to take care of the house and the children and the daily facts of life, all the while worrying about our husband or wife being in harm's way. I know that my heart stops just a bit every time I hear a knock on the door, and a constant prayer for safety and strength is always on my lips. I will not rest easy until my husband is home again.
For those who have proudly served our country, or are currently doing so I thank you from the bottom of my heart. If it were not for you Americans would not have the right to protest this war in the first place. It is because of you that people can say what they want and voice their opinions, even if those opinions are not very nice to hear. For every person who wears a uniform, whether overseas or right here in the US, I want to thank you for stepping up and volunteering and proudly serving our country.
As for those of you who want to spout nonesense and hurtful comments, just consider who it is that gives you the protection and the freedom to do so. It does not matter whether you agree with this war or not. It does not matter whether you agree with our president's policies or not. What matters is that for one day you take a moment to honor those who have died serving their country, and those who still do. You can disagree with policy, but still support those who uphold that policy because they have no other choice. It's called being a caring human, and there is no political agenda involved in that.
