The Republicans have had it all since 2000, and even the Congress since 1994.

What have they had to show for it, for our current benefit?

DeLay, Armey, Gramm, Byl, Santorum and all the rest of them partisan radicals are gone now, while they had it all.

Did they and Republicans cannibalize and implode their own?

Regardless, they have had their time and turn, and now?

A Democratic landslide in November, in the White House and the Congress at least and for the good of us all is inevitable.

What that means is that there will actually be direct contacts with our "enemies", as well as cross-cultural sharing and real negotiations.

No more isolated, bombastic spin, propaganda, demonizing and efforts that lead to nothing and more and more wars - the breakdown of civilization and economies

The landslide Dem election will free us all, and put power back on us, and not on any "Great Leader".  Some, if not most of us are the people we have been waiting for.

Finally.

Either get with it or go down in the flood.

Fortunately I am a strong swimmer. The strangest thing about democracy is how all of history is ignored in favor of emotion because of misplaced idealism.

I have been around long enough to observe and remember what has worked in the past and what has not worked. I remember how LBJ lied to congress about the gulf of Tonkin affair in order to escalate us into Vietnam. I remember how the democratic congress spent every dime plus some for 40 years. It was democrats who created the welfare nanny state. In 1994 when the republicans took over, It was the republicans who balanced the budget not Bill Clinton. Now the current republican white house is a sorry excuse for the republicans who led them there from 1994 and they deserve to be tossed to the curb but that doesn't mean that all the past history of liberal led government in now vindicated. it is not. If everyone would study history instead of emotionally clinging to their ideals we would all be voting libertarian by now since it is clear that there isn't a hell of a lot of difference between the republicans or democrats except for their mascots.
Now to be specific; the economy has had the longest expansion since 1990 and even tho it is slowing it still has not gone into recession yet. Tax cuts work. They have always worked and will work in the future just as John McCain says. Obamas' idea of giving the poor a break at the expense of the wealthy is the same old robin hood democratic line which has been done before. It didn't work then and it won't work now. I am not a neoconservative, I am an arch conservative. But that doesn't mean that I believe that everything conservative is right or everything liberal is wrong, i don't. But economically conservatives are far more correct than any liberal idea I have seen. The conservative views on abortion and drug use are examples of views that I think are not correct. Liberals are more correct on ideas of personal freedom. As a country we all must move past the rhetoric and actually study what the best solutions are since the way we are going now cannot be sustained long into the future.

the only thing that will free us is if we fight back. Our vote dosnt count but our cooperation does.If we all quit paying for sub standard services from our elected officials {crooks}and lenders {the saudis}. They will get the message if investors start investing in people in stead of gready corperations  we can save our economy If you have money to invest start offering first deed notes at 8% interest only at 15 yrs. Wouldnt you like your money to stay in your community and make the profits the saudis are enjoying. We have acted like sheep for to long its time to fight back. I did I just quit paying my subprime mortgage and bought another property with a loan from one of my neigbors. My payments changed from $2300 a month to $210 a month I went from 1 acre to 4 acres and i will only move 4 miles away and now have river front property. My mother had 2 homes on one lot she had a mortgage of $400,000 her houses are only appraising at $250,000 she went one mile bought a brand new house for $150,000 got a local private loan at 6.9% and told thebank they can have the 2 old houses. we both get to see the happy face of our lenders and are making a stand in our fight on terrorism

Interesting approach. But to truly wrest control out of the current status quo we must all start voting against all the incumbents. Sure we will get the occasional buffoon but as long as we consistently vote against incumbents we will replace him at the next election anyway. Here in PA the voters woke up after a sneaky midnight pay raise attempt and turned out many incumbents who never thought the people would do that. Boy did they get a rude awakening! We must start doing that on the national scale and it simply isn't enough to change back and forth from republican to democrat. we must start electing other parties so that they don't get complacent. The existing two party system has stacked the deck to make it extremely difficult for any third party to run successfully. Now what kind of freedom is that if the only choice you have is between dumb and dumber? I think the current administration is a prime example of people who ran for office for power politics and not to serve the people. Everyone should read"The fall of the Roman empire" Because we are all going down that same road. Democracies always degenerate into dictatorships as the people in power serve only to stay in power.

Well said!  What we need - and it is within our reach - is a coalition of moderate "conservatives" and "liberals".  This coalition can make winners of all of us moderates.  Both are needed to balance the other, and together make a whole.

Enough partisan division and rancour.  We are the ones we have been waiting for.

If not us, who?

If not now, when?
