Ok, I'm fed up with how the US media is constantly putting up negative images of Saddam and Bin Laden. Look, I'm not trying to say what they did was acceptable but I feel we as Americans should look beyond their acts and try to understand what drove them to such extremes. In many ways, they were similar to Hitler. He was just a product of his circumstances. He was just sick of seeing his country being drained and humiliated by the Allies of WWI. It's the same thing with Sadam and Bin Laden. They were also tired of seeing their countries being humiliated by the US and the Western world. America forced them into those situations. We've had a history of taking advantage of them and betraying their countries. As leaders, they got sick of it. In some ways, both men are admirable. They were trying to stand up for themselves and for their people. However, they're just didn't go about it the right way.

where did you dream that up?

First, Saddam was a brute who had nothing in mind outside of keeping him and his minions in power. He was not bullied by the US until the very end. He used his oil money to build vast palaces all over the country and brutalized hundreds of thousands and killed many more Iranians in a silly war over nothing.

Bin Laden is just a fundie in Islamic clothing and his view of the world is a new Caliphate brought to us with force. He does not hesitate to blow up innocent civilian wholescale such as in Africa and he is not grateful for all the help the US gave to Islamic peoples in Somalia, Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan in their fights against other more brutal regimes.

I really doubt either of them are/were patriots.

I feel we as Americans should look beyond their acts and try to understand what drove them to such extremes.
