To all the brave men and women who have travelled to Iraq and Afghanistan to report the news, let me say a personal thank you. Without the consistent and comprehensive news of the combat zone, I for one would be lost. As the mother of a third combat tour Marine officer, I make my way through the course of a day trying to live as normal a life as possible. However, my day ends with the need to tune into the news media for a glimpse of the reality that my son has lived for the past three years. Bob Woodward and his cameraman were there to help us touch this reality. My fervent prayer is for their recovery. Watching them be lifted onto the C 130 caused tears of anguish and pain. For you see, every injury and every death has touched me deeply. I feel that I am the mother to each and everyone. If I could wipe away a tear, bring solace with a prayer, and heal every wound, I would lay down my own life for this war to end. To every family that has been touched by pain and anguish, I pray for consolation of heart, mind and body.
