I hope that the wounded journalists recover quickly and completey. But I do not agree with the news coverage they get. We have Soldiers and Marines wounded every day but they get no "breaking news" status. Why don't you do headline stories on the families of our wounded troops, they have mothers and fathers and wives and children too. Your self serving attitude and coverage of this tragic event is disgusting,.

I couldnt agree with you more. My husband is in the army and his brother was as well until june of 2004 when he was paralyzed from the chest down. You wouldnt believe the hell we had to go through to help him. Society loves to forget that there are more important things going on in this world besides what star is getting married to who. There are thousands of soldiers out there who need our support. Even the ones who arent physically injured. My husband will forever be scarred after going to war and seeing his brother in the hospital in Iraq right after his injury. I am glad to know that there are people out there like you who realize that our soldiers have been forgotten about. thank you for your post

This is a very sad event. It is sad that everyone goes on about our everyday lives and worries about which star marries who. Maybe by ABC making this breaking news it can remind people what is really going on in the world. Maybe it will make people pull their heads out of the sand and face things! I think we all need to be asking President Bush at this time is it worth it??? For what?

Yes, we do have soldiers and marines wounded every day. However, they signed up to be a member of the armed services so they had to know there was a chance they could go to war and get hurt. These 2 were journalists trying to tell a story. You don't think of journalists getting hurt when doing their job. Sorry but ABC's coverage of this event is warranted, like it or not.

You obviously don't have anyone in the military. I have a younger brother in Balad, Iraq. He did join the military after 9/11 and he did know that he would be going to Iraq. He is with the 4th Infantry Division. However, as his older sister this doesn't make it any easier when I see news stories such as this one. Mr Woodruff knew what he was getting himself into. I hate to be the one to break it to you but he has free choice and can turn down the story if he felt it was too dangerous. The fact that he has a wife and four kids should have been an indication that this story might have been too much of a risk. Next time you look at the death and injury count coming out of Iraq, think about all of those families and friends that are missing their loved one. You have a right to your opinion (just as I do) because of people like my brother.

lets think about your comments shall we? yes we do get wounded, and no we are not deluded to think it can't happen to us. yes we signed up, but many are forced to serve and are not allowed to end their tours or retire. yes they were 2 journalists trying to tell a story IN A FRIGGING WAR ZONE. Yeah buddy, i do think journalists get hurt and killed in a war zone. Having been in a war zone and having seen the dead and the wounded; having no delusions about it YEAH PEOPLE GET HURT AND KILLED WHEN THEY GET SHOT AND BLOWN UP. This isn't hollywood. If you go out and play on the Interstate there is a g;ood chance you will get hit by a car or truck. If you go to a WAR ZONE there is a good chance you will get shot or blown up. You thought maybe they would get a nice reception with ice cream maybe? Maybe the news media should actually show the american people what it is really like in Iraq instead of sugar coating it.

You know I just have to respond to some of these ridiculous emails. Why don't you talk to the White House about why the press can't cover the wounded troops and dead in Iraq. It's because they won't allow it. The irony is that because something almost tragic happened to this well known reporter and camerman that any attention is being focused on the walking wounded and dead in Iraq.

Unless every news service is going to give the same press time to every US soldier and civilian that is injured or killed in Iraq, then they should not be devoting so much air time to Bob & Doug. It is a disservice to all that are serving. This is not to diminish in anyway the suffering Bob and Doug's families are going through, but Enough is Enough.

I to feel that our soldiers dont get enough coverage in the news. I also feel that abc isnt totally wrong with their coverage. At first I was upset about it and then after a few days of reading all of these posts I realized I thank abc for covering it so much. If they just ignored what had happened to two of their own that would be wrong. I think with them covering so much of this story is letting us know what is going on in Iraq. For the families who have a loved one in Iraq or have had one in Iraq we are constantly faced with the worries of war. Those who have no ties to the war dont have any idea what is going on over there because they dont want to. The fact is people dont want to know about something that they think doesnt affect them. I hope that the coverage will reach those who otherwise dont care. After all this message board for our soldiers was started because of what happened. We also have to remember that alot of the soldiers dont want any media attention. I know my brother in law was asked numerous times to tell his story. He didnt want to relive what happened he just wanted to come home and know that him and his family are taken care of. He did eventually go to the news when the Army failed in making sure him and his family were taken care of, as we hear in so many other stories.
