We hear that the Detroit auto industry is struggling, and no doubt the Japanese cars will outdo a Ford any day for longevity and component quality.
But as long as we continue to pump oil out of the Middle East it will be impossible to attain hydrogen at your local corner pump. The fact is, the money element doesn't want us to have the new technology; a hydrogen sportscar is unattainable to everyone at a steep 100K. They didn't design an economical, simple hydrogen car for us this year with long lasting parts.
Does current money needs make good sense blind?. I mean have we overlooked the knowledge that a home electric unit can generate the hydrogen needed to power a small car? Honda is developing a home hydrogen generator and this could be practical; but the ailing auto industry says that hydrogen is impracticle because it can't be bought at your local pump; and so the new generation of small effective 'Volks_hydrogen cars cannot get underway. The oil scenario is the bane of long visioned investing for US auto companies; ignore technology so Exxon and buddies can rake in huge sums of capitol etc etc etc
And a point about Iraq; the tyranny that governed it was suited to the nature of it's people; form follows function; I still think sanctions and UN inspectors would have worked while we bombed Iran's nucelar capabilities and smashed Syria and dipolmatized the North Koreans via China; and purged all the Madrasas in Pakistan with naipaum and Bin Laden's head on a bayonett.
Yet we're in a strait-jacket commited in Iraq to the tune of 300 billion or so dollars and counting, give or take a few to the current administration and Bush is dogged to it (but for the home hydrogen unit).
DADGUMMIT!!!
