Over the years I have read and seen a number of medical news stories about young people wanting gender-changing operations, claiming that they were born  "in the wrong body."

Why have I NEVER seen any mention that supplemental  hormone treatment was tried prior to "sexual reassignment surgery?"   Perhaps a masculine woman would suddenly become very comfortable in her female body if she was just given a little boost of some female hormones like estrogen, and a feminine man would benefit from some testosterone.

It certainly would be much easier than subjecting oneself  to multiple "sexual reassignment" surgeries, plus a lifetime of massive amounts of opposite-gender hormone shots and pills.

I have NEVER seen this hormone supplementation option discussed by any medical professional in any news or print story.   I fear the political correctness of being accepting of transgender persons has stopped society, and even news reporters, from asking, "Hey, is this operation really necessary??  Maybe there is another less-costly solution?."

What is your opinion?  Would hormone supplementation work?
