I have chronic daily headache, transformed migraine. The pain is pretty much 24/7. I believe the transformation is hormonal as I am going through menopause, but the farther into menopause I get the worse the pain and I am not a candidate for HRT. Sor far we have not found any preventative that works. I am worried about becoming addicted to Fioricet and Phenergem, which I take almost daily-2-4 per day. The triptan I take is Relpax and it works great; I get good relief that lasts most of the day, however my insurance will give me only 4 per month  and my doctor gives me 4-5 samples per month. That gives me 8-9 days per month of mostly free from pain, but even those days usually end with pain that requires Fioricet. Is there a non-addictive drug that is available. I also practice meditation and self-hypnosis which help, bur when it is really bad only drugs work.

I too suffered with pre and post menopausal migraines. The Fiorcet worked well, but only after I stopped hormone therapy and got my blood pressure under control. They said I had borderline high blood pressure but borderline was high for me since I always had low blood pressure. The migraines have stopped and I only occasionally have auras with no pain. Good Luck, I hope this helps
