I have had spinal disc disease, and stenosis for over 10 years, and I am taking the following prescriptions:
Percocet 10-650 mg 4 times per day
Oxycodone 15 mg every 4 hours as needed for pain
Baclofen 10 mg 3 times per day
Diazepam 10 mg 4 times per day
The reason I listed these medications is that after taking them for over five years I am having to increase my dosages on all medications for the control of my pain.
I have spoken with my Primare Care Physician regarding these medications, and my doctor will not allow me to increase the doseages. Thus, I find myself taking the amount requried to minimize my pain. However, towards the 3rd week in the month I am haing to cut back to 1 of each of the medications I listed above.
Also, I see my Neurosurgeon, and he said there is a surgical procedure which would help, but he doesn't adise this invasive and extremely painful prodedure at my age. I am at a point where I want to stop taking all these medications, but I know the withdrawals from my pain medications listed would require hospitalization for withdrawl symptoms.
Without a doubt, I am now addicted to these medications, but due to the side effects, I need adice on what to do regarding my desire to cease taking these medications, and finding alternative - non pain management medications. Anotherwords, the cure or treatment from taking these medications is beginning to impact my life, and I want to quit taking these medications.
Please help, as I am a very motivated 62 year old man who desires alternative methods for treating my pain, and stopping my pain management meds.
Can you please give me some advice on where to go for answers to my questions about stopping pain management meds, and what non invasive therapies I could seek.
Thank you,
