I also suffer from endometriosis.  I am 51 years old, post menopausal, and am facing my  8th surgery due to this horrible and debilitating disease.  I have struggled with this disease most of my adult life.  It continues to be a mysterious disesase to the medical community.  Why isn't more attention given to this disease and the devastating toll it can take on those that suffer with it.   I have spent the last year trying everything imaginable to avoid another surgery, and due to the pain, I have lost my job, and am now on medical disability.  My physicians just told me this week that I've done everything possible, and now the only option left is another surgery.  This disease has affected my life in profound proportions.  It has affected my sex life, my social life, my career, and my family can only watch me suffer in pain, leaving them feeling completely helpless.

Why won't someone bring this disease to the forefront of discussion?  Millions of women suffer in silence with this disease.  I have suffered for years, but not in silence.  I've sent numerous emails to news agencies, Oprah, etc - in hopes of getting someone to due a story on this awful disease.

As I stated eariler, I am facing my 8th surgery, awaiting the phone call from the surgeons office today to schdule the procedure - and am in more pain right now than ever before with this disease.

Please help us and do a story, bring this to the forefront.  I have complete empathy for those women suffering with breast cancer.  And I understand breast cancer kills, endometriosis does not.  But why can't this disease get some attention from the media?  My disease won't kill me, but it is destroying my life.

Have you had a hysterectomy?  I used to suffer with this until I had a partial hysterectomy.  The doctor left my ovaries because she said they had not been affected.  Before the surgery, she had told me that if she found anything in my ovaries, that she may have to remove them also, but they were fine.  I had two previous surgeries to burn off (remove) the endometriosis.  Every month when my period came, it hurt SOOOO bad.  After the two operations, I was told that I'd probably have to have this done once a year to remove it.  I said "Oh, hell, no.  I'm NOT having surgery once a year until menopause (which would have been another 15 years)".  She recommended a hysterectomy as being the only solution.  I got a second opinion and it concurred with hers.  So, I got a partial.  I'll tell you - after I had that done, I felt the best I have ever felt in my life regarding female problems.  I'm just wondering if this could be a solution for you or if you've already had one??????
