I am 48 and my husband and I were in a motorcycle accident Aug 2006. I shattered my pelvis (R) and the hip socket was broken 3 places, crushed the bottom of my knee cap and also broke 3 ribs. It threw me about 20 feet and when I hit the ground my hip bone "blasted" through my pelvis and left it in about 12 pieces. An excellent Dr. put me back together with a metal strip with screws going every which way. I had a lot of nerve trauma and he had to sever one because it was too badly damaged. The bone has grown back, my nerves are slowly coming back in my leg but I continue to be in pain from the time I get up to the time I go to bed. I have been on percocet the entire time, gotten off the morphine about 4 months ago and am now wearing a Fentanyl patch. Does anyone know the length of healing this takes??? I think if it had only been my knee OR my pelvis it wouldn't be so bad but if one doesn't hurt the other does, although the worst is my back/hip/mid-section. I have been to rehab, aquatherapy, (which works the best, I love it) pain management, injections on nerves, sockets and back, but the only thing that has seemed to help is a "sympathetic nerve block" which the last time he "microwaved" them, so it should last longer...I hope. It hurts to sit upright for any length of time and to also stand either. It is a struggle to stand long enough to make meals, and then I have to put my leg up and recline back for awhile. I walk with a cane but to go anywhere that I would have to walk very far, I use my wheelchair. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate them very much.
