Is this where you get your news? Sick.

No, I saw it on the news.  I think it is sick that a photo would replace the stars and stripes.

While it is true you can buy a flag like this on eBay, it is not true that it's from the White House, Sponsored by Obama, or any of the other BS circulating on right wing blogs.

I think the first link is to the real story. If you look at the second one, it has crazy stuff on it.

I don't think the American flag should be altered in any way. But, it angers me even more when you read what's out in the blogosphere about it, and folks repeat it as the truth...   that Obama's White House has done this.

Pffffft.

It was certainly in poor taste.  To be honest, although I'd never leave a flag in the rain or out after dark, I don't understand how anyone can be truly all that invested in a piece of cloth.  Not here, not any where.  Again, I understand it means a lot to some people and out of respect for that I would never desecrate a flag (any flag) but it doesn't do anything for me.

Some Dem chairwoman in FL has been flying it above HQ, under the US flag. It's apparently been flying for some months. She received it "as a gift". The White House didn't print it.   ; )

I have an issue with folks who basically desecrate a flag. Rampant around here are various flags with fish, deer, turkey, etc emblazoned across it.

But anyway..   she is against a statute by flying it. I'm not sure if the Chinese manufacturers are in any trouble for making it.  : )

It needs to come down, and stay down. IMO.

Statute 256.05, which covers improper use of state or United States flag, or other symbol of authority, reads: "No person shall, in any manner, for exhibition or display:

"(1) Place or cause to be placed any word, figure, mark, picture, design, drawing or advertisement of any nature upon any flag, standard, color, ensign or shield of the United States or of this state, or authorized by any law of the United States or this state; or

"(2) Expose to public view any such flag, standard, color, ensign or shield upon which shall have been printed, painted or otherwise produced, or to which shall have been attached, appended, affixed or annexed any such word, figure, mark, picture, design, drawing or advertisement."

The Democratic headquarters in FL placed it there.  IMO, anyone who defaces the American flag does not belong in the US.  The stars and stripes represent each and every state and those who fought for our freedom.  I cannot believe ANYONE living int the US would find this acceptable.

It is frightening to think there are adults who really believe this stuff.  What an eye-opener this board is!

that Obama's White House has done this.

Pffffft.

Obviously since it was displayed at the Democratic Headquarters in FL, someone in this Administration knew about it.

It is difficult to go to that extreme. There are many vets who enjoy wearing clothing items patterned as the American flag. Some consider that "defacement". Tea Partiers' costumes were famously red-white-blue flag patterned.

So, IMO, we have to be careful making those kind of extreme statements.

This woman in FL needs to keep that particular flag down, however.

It is frightening to think there are adults who really believe this stuff.

Believe what "stuff"?  It is a proven fact that Obama's face in on the flag and it was displayed at the Democratic Headquarters in FL.  What is so frightening is that one cannot understand how deplorable it is to deface our flag.
