Quite a few years ago I posted a recipe for an Orange Basil Cheesecake.

I've lost my recipe. Since basil is so plentyful right now I woul like to make it again.

Does anybiody of the "old" posters by any chance still have it?

It will be greatly appreciated,

Arina

Orange Basil Cheese cake

1:20PM PST, Nov 19, 2002

You all are always talking about cheese cakes, so here is mine. The recipe was given to me by Chef Robert Wooldridge of Gertrude's Rest. here in Colo. Springs.
It is always a huge hit when I make it.
Arina

2 lbs. cream cheese, softened
3/4 c granulated sugar
1 T and 1 t cornstarch
2 eggs
grated rind and juice of 1 small orange
3/4 t orange extract
1/4 t vanilla extract
1 c fresh basil leaves
1 c heavy cream
1 c sour cream

Topping
1 c sour cream
2/3 c sugar

Your favorite crust.

Prepare your favorite cookie crust and press evenly over bottom of a 9-inch springform pan. Bake 10 min. at 350º. Cool.
Cream cheese and sugar together until smooth.
Stir in cornstarch, eggs, orange juice and rind and extracts.
In blender, purée basil and heavy cream until smooth. Add to cream cheese mixture. Blend in sour cream. Pour into prepared crust and bake 50 min. or until top is set.
Topping:
Heat sour cream with sugar until bubbling.
Pour over top of baked cheesecake. Cool completely. Can be decorated with orange slices and/or basil.

To serve, use a warm, wet knife to cut smoothly into wedges.

I hope you have a grand celebration.  Helen
