Sue this is one of my hubby's favorite Holiday Cookies.   Helen

Fruit Cake Cookies   1 1/2 cups golden raisins
1/2 lb. mixed chopped candied fruit
1/4 cup whisky  -  Plus a wee bit more
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. pecan pieces
1 tsp vanilla

Place raisins and fruit in a bowl. Pour on the whisky, stir and let stand for 1 hour.   In a separate bowl, Cream butter. Add sugar and eggs and beat until fluffy.
Sift flour with baking soda, spices, and salt.   Slowly add to the butter mixture,   then blend well. Add nuts and the whisky soaked fruit and vanilla. Mix well then cover and refrigerate  2 hours or overnight.   Preheat oven to 325.   Form dough into walnut size balls.  Bake on greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. These are very nice if stored at least one day in a sealed container or zip bag that you have added a little whisky to.

Helen, these sound wonderful. Nothing better than spirits to lift your spirits!

Did you sign up for the Twelve Days of Cookies from the Food Network?  Some of them sound pretty good...

Sound good!

We just spent this week in Fort Smith,AR.

So convenient - the airport was 5 minutes from our hotel.

Don had a seminar at Fort Chaffee for the Dept. of Energy US Marshalls.......

Some interesting history there.

Review...very good.

Makes about 4 doz.

Tastes nothing like the traditional fruitcake we've all come to either love or hate.

Didn't have golden raisons - used regular.

Added 1 cup chopped dates along with chopped candied fruit.

Soaked with enough whiskey to cover fruit...quite the kick!

Thanks Helen.
