Miss Tory,

Like many in our country, I lost my job due to a layoff at Washington Mutual.  I have applied to many companies locally in San Antonio, Texas, and have had many recruiters contact me about contract positions, but they are only for 3 to 6 months.  Afterward, I would be unemployed again, so I see no benefit to accepting work in 3 or 6 month increments.  What can I do to obtain a full-time job with benefits?  I am 51, and in this new world hardly anyone accepts applications anymore, so you can not meet someone in person to sell yourself anymore.  And, the though of my online resume floating somewhere in space with thousands of others is frustrating.  What can I do?
