Tory, you may not get this, but I'm going to try anyway.  I'm trying to find a job on line, not start my own business.  It seems like every web page either wants money to just look at what they have or get their kits, or free surveys that pay you in points or gift cert.  This one company called Thrive called and said they wanted me to start a company with them, but since I don't have thousands of dollars to invest, they said go to the "start on line free".com and I could start making money right away, well you have 2 choices, either the starter kit for $67 or the basic (free).  Well if you pay the money you get all kinds of access, but the basic is just that, you don't get anything.  Why can't I just find a job instead of all this other stuff?  I tried looking into those web sites that you discussed on GMA several months ago, one was Alpine.  I applied but because I have satellite for my internet they could not use me.  I'm trying to find something that I can type or fill in forms and get paid for it.  I'm under Drs care right now and was let go from my job back in Sept. and with the restrictions my Dr has me on, no one is going to hire me, so if I could do something on the computer from home and make some extra money to help pay the bills that would be great.
I hope you get this, I know you get hundreds of email everyday, but maybe this one will stick out and you might have an idea for me.
I want to thank you and I watch GMA every day and when your on, I try to get pointers.

Thank you,
DuAnn

Dear Tory,

I am 61 yrs. of age and have been trying to find a job 6 months before the bottom fell out and have had no luck.  I've had a few interviews but am up against a younger crowd, which brings me to my question.  I have a college degree, which was takes to the GI Bill, which I also worked in a factory full-time 40/56 hrs. a week for I had a family & a mortgage too, the wife stayed at home with the kids while I worked fulltime at work and a full load at college for five years. I have over 35-40 yrs. experience in management in corporate America, but for the last 25 yrs, my wife and I  have ran a sucessful cleaning/ janitoral business which did real well but the past year has dropped in business due to the economy and competion of lower bids on work from long time customers. Some of these bids have come the latino sector who have under bid us.  Also my wifes health got bad, due to a heart condition which has limited her partisapation which created and extra cost.  So I decide to go back into the private sector, but to date have had no luck. I'm wondering how much being self employed along with my age is this factor working against me? I submitted 200 resumes, and that's another issue, do these get responded too or tossed out or overlooked? I have had  a few interviews with janitoral management companies for which I felt was was very quailfied for the postion but coming out from the interview the waiting area is full of much younger candiates.   I have adjusted my salary  expectations to hopefully enhance my chances, and in some cases salary range was listed and I went for a happy meduim if you what I mean, hoping to get hired.  I have many years of management skills, and dealing with many people on various levels ofmanagement up & down the ladder.  I have been a decision maker, done the interview segment and even had to hire & fire on a management and business owner level.

Well that's about it in a nutshell, always listen for your advice GMA and hope you can offer me some guidance on what to do and what action and direction I such pursue.  I have sent the resume, cover letter and follow-up on interviews and non interviews I had.  I'm ready to stand on the cornor with a sign PLEASE HIRE ME !!!!!  You want be disappointed !

Thanks

David
