Dear Ms. Johnson,
I am looking for a position in higher education and have been applying for jobs for over 6 months and have gotten nowhere.  I keep applying online and seem to never get any interviews...is there a way to make my resume stand out?  Is there something else I should be doing? Please help!  Thank you for your time!
Sincerely,
Lynn P

Don't rely on the internet! The whole focus of our show today was the need to make that direct connection.  Once you apply online, you have to follow up with a call or email.  Find someone who knows someone who works where you want to work. That makes all the difference in the world!

It is so important for yoou to have contacts within the school districts you are interested in.  They can give you some inside scoop and maybe deliver your resume to the right person for temporary or other than ordinary positions to get your foot in the door.  Simply putting your resume in front of those who are able to make decisions is not enough since the numbers they get must be astounding these days.

Best of luck,
