I have been a victim of identity theft, first noted May of 2006.  I spent 8 months investigating the crime after police told me that I would probably not find the person.  I found him!  I spent another 2 months trying to convince the police that the person I found did steal my identity.  It was because of an car dealership application that I strategically obtained that had the concrete evidence that this person had stolen my identity, prior I was told "it is all a credit bureau mistake."  I followed the criminal case and learned that many companies that issued this person credit never verified information on the applications.  So I got mad and filed several law suits!  I have been in litigation for more than a year now representing myself (pro se litigant), however I need to get this story out to the public, as I have learned that a large part of the problem is that credit issuers give credit to ID thieves without ever verifying information on the applications.  There are many laws, California and Federal, which mandate that companies who issue credit need to properly verify a person's identity prior to issuing credit.  I have much more information to give to others and the media regarding how to REALLY FIGHT BACK  It is not enough to freeze your credit or to put a fraud alert etc.   Where can I send information for others to fight back like I am.  If more ID victims fight back like I am, credit issuers will start to adhere to the laws knowing that if they don't there is a good chance that the company will get sued.

Thank you,

David Guerrero, M.D.
