The vet believes our dog has food allergies and he's on the rabbit/potato diet from Royal Canin with little improvement. We've been  giving the dog weekly baths in a cortisone based shampoo but giving Temeril offers the most relief. I'm not comfortable giving an 11-month old dog this medication for the rest of his life considering long-term side effects. We tried Atopica but he would vomit no matter when it was given.
Would you suggest a second opinion before consulting an animal allergist?
