My daughter and I both came down with a "cold", allergy or sinuses draining, watery eyes, etc. . My 8-year-old male cat has lost his voice.  He meows and almost sounds like a croak.  now he is making no noise and this has been going on for 4 days.  He has thrown up his food maybe once or twice, but other than that seems fine.  we could hear him purr, but not anymore.  we feel him purr but not as loud as he used to be.  He has thrown up his food once of twice.  But no other signs or illness.  I got this Christmas day and then my daughter who is visiting got it 5 days later.  She has her 3 month old kitten with her and she has lost her voice, but playing and no change in activities.  These two have played together a lot.  My other cat has not developed "no meow" yet, but he just goes off by himself and not too social.  I have dogs here and they all appear fine.  but should I take the cat or cats to the vet?  Here in Vegas, it costs 100 just to walk in the door for a visit, but thought maybe it was just temporary.  They have no watery eyes, runny nose....nothing.  Just no voices when they try to meow!

Thanks for any help!
