Tory,

I am currently looking for permanent employment in the media field.  I have not worked for a company since December of 2005.  However, I do work  freelance from time to time.  I keep up with the current trends in my field by attending seminars, receiving subscriptions as well as attending classes.

My questions is how do I continue to ask for contacts, help or whatever without seeming desperate?  I have contacted mentors, friends, strangers, just about everyone that I can think of.  Where do I go from here?

I am passionate about what I do.  I bring over 20 years of experience to the work place, including learning the latest technologies in my field.  I'm frustrated and just don't know where to turn.  Can you help?

Grateful,

kfab50

Do you use sites like mediabistro.com for leads/ideas/names?  If you're not having luck, revisit the networking contacts -- give them an update on where things are at and ask again for their help. Many times they know new people to connect you with.  Cold call some of the media heavyweights in your area and ask them to give you 15 minutes of time.  Explore various aspects of media: it could be public relations, it could be writing for a magazine. Don't leave any stone unturned!
