Tori,

Hi I am a 50 yr old woman who has been out of the workforce for 9 yrs, during that time I moved out of state, married and was injured in a car accident and have been in physical rehabilitation since. I am getting to a point that I can re-enter the workforce.  Most of my time has been consumed with navigating medical system, and physical therapy/rehab. Trying to organize my life due to my inability to function as before, ie: completing housework, cooking, etc.  Also I raised 2 daughters through college. Where do I begin to look for work and what do I say about my injury?

Focus on your strong will, your determination -- even in the face of the odds.  Move away from the injury and focus on what came of it: learning to navigate the healthcare system, helping your daugthers get into college -- when you focus on those things, you have positive stories with powerful lessons to share. It helps an employer see your thought process and what makes you tick.  Many people have made comebacks from illness and injury. You can too!

Keep sharing -- the more you're able to discuss your issues and concerns, the easier the process becomes because you learn of new ideas and solutions from your peers!
