My company closed there local office two years ago I took the time to complete my degree and an now ready to reenter the work force. I had a phone interview with a company who contacted me based on my resume I sent to them that I thought went well until the end of the call when the interview asked about my most resent project and I explained my time out of the workforce and I have not heard anything more from the company either negative or positive. How should I explain what was consider a 2 year leave where my former company paid for benefits such education and health as part of my seperation package.

You should call and ask for feedback. Just b/c you haven't heard back doesn't mean they're not interested. They could be busy, etc.  Ask for candid feedback.  Also, you can clearly and simply explain the break -- keep it simple, just stick to the facts.  Good luck
