Hi Tory.

It was good watching you this AM.

My return to the workplace question has a slight twist. I was fortunate to have just returned from sailing around the world with my family for the last six years. Now I am wishing to reenter the business world. Prior to leaving I owned and ran a small computer related  business, for 5 years, with 60 people. I sold that in order to accomplish this dream. I am a 55 YO male with a top shelf MBA and significant biz skills.

My question, is it reasonable for me to look for a mgt type position at this point and expect to really find something meaningful, or should I readjust my sights? What are some good places/ways  for me to be searching? I also have no idea of what salary range I should be expecting. I am also considering starting or buying another biz as an alternative. What are your thoughts on my rentry?

Thxs. Joe Sailor

That experience is all very valuable.  Salary will depend on the size company you pursue, the location and industry.  You can use salary.com or payscale.com to play around with variables to see what comes up and makes sense.  Seek out professional associations in your area that are connected to the field in which you'd like to work. Talk to other business owners where you think you might make a great contribution. You might find that consulting is more meaningful until you determine the perfect fulltime opportunity.  Use LinkedIn.com too as a good tool to connect with people. Good luck
