Tori,

I had been working as an RN at the same facility for 14 years making $30.00/hr.  Life turned upside down; my husband left me, my college freshman daughter had a newborn which I became mom to...previously I had left my job to pursue another career change.  I became a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant and began to build my own business.  How do I continue to pursue the new business but legitimately apply for a part time or per diem job with this 1 1/2 year gap now.  I have to bring in a certain amount of money but do not want to abandon my dreams which have cost me $12,000 in start up fees.

Where there's a will there's a way. You've managed to do so much against the odds, so you can do this too.  Your field is one in which there's a shortage of qualified individuals, so I would think your skills would be a great asset. Look into healthcare administration -- both at hospitals and private pratices.  Also look at some of the big staffing firms with healthcare divisions....Robert Half has one.  I'm sure someone like you could be placed quickly if you interview well.  Good luck...I'm rooting for you!
