Without having ever met Ms. Fleming, I know what she went through. I have pancreatic cancer, have been fighting it for 18 months. Besides the fact that the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer is in most cases a death sentence (5-year survival rate of 4%), there is the lonliness. No pink ribbons, no races for the cure, no fundraising pink products at every turn in the supermarket. There is a national organization that has tried to drum up interest in this cancer (PanCAN), but it is an uphill battle. No survivors, no good news, no one cares. And yet 32,000 people die from this cancer every year -- and most of those people have lived less than a year from diagnosis. Why?
