i am a new senior and i question your info about "free" medical coverage. this is absolutely NOT true. I pay $135.89 a month for my supplemental coverage plus the amount that is automatically deducted from my social security which is at least $96.30 per month and goes up as your income goes up to a high of $211.90 per month. How is this free!!!!! this does not include any drug coverage which is an additional $43.90 per month. guess what--that adds up to $391.69. prior to medicare we always paid health premiums through our business. are we entitled?? you bet. we are the ones who have always paid our taxes and lots of them and contributed to society is so many ways. being on medicare is not a free lunch so get your facts straight.

Are you mad that they make you at least have some skin in the game?  What you are paying is minimal as to what the insurance actually costs.  For example  Myself, family of 4 insurance is just over $2000 a month and I also get to fund your health care.  If I volunteer to help you thats great but if not its theft !

reddon1969:  Let's hear from you when you are on social security and medicare.  If you feel that seniors should not have health insurance, I assume you will have the integrity to turn it down when you get to 65.

I agree with Lois & garden65 posts -  I am so very disappointed and saddened that John Stossel is the new Hiraldo Rivera and ABC News is the new Fox News (you know, that "fair and balanced" entertainment/propaganda network).  Shame, shame, shame on you - for this segment as well as the terrible and irresponsible Tiger story!  Give ME a break!

I won't be watching 20/20 again, at least not until someone comes to their senses.  BTW John, when will your contract with Fox be finalized?  You belong there, where lies and sensationalism sell - please leave and let ABC get back to real news, real people, real issues and real reporting.

John Stossel is really "off base" with his unfair attack on Medicare and Medicare recipients.  Believe me  senior health care is not free.  Last year between Medicare costs, RX insurance, supplemental insurance (Medicare does not cover all medical costs) co-pays for RX's and Long Term Care Insurance my total expenses were $9921.00. I am a widow.  If my husband were alive we would have double the cost.   I worked for 32 years and paid into the program...my husband worked 42 years and died before he ever collected a dime.  If Mr. Stossel wants to investigate something important...what about "why are medical costs are so high?"  Ms. Weber's comments are right on target.
