Instead of picking on the senior citizens who worked their whole lives to get medicare, why don't you pick on the people who live on medicaid and haven't worked for one dime of it?  Most of those people have been living on medicaid for generations and once they go on they never go off.  The medicare bill pales in comparison to the medicaid.

Awsome point! Welfare (in some states) and Medicade is out of hand. Things need to be reworked from the ground up. That would help everyone and every age.

Both need to be done with and the sooner the better.  A realistic plan might look more like reduce the benefit 1/30th each year for 30 years.  Phase it out over time so people can make other plans.  Everyone has already made their plans on the false promise of government. They will need time to get used to taking responsibility for their own life again.
