I sat at work last night and watched "Children of the Mountains". I was appalled at what I watched. Everytime the news media comes to an area in Kentucky it seems like they focus on the worse part of it. I have been in several different states and have seen the same there. It may not be up a so called "hollor" but it is there. I work for a gas field service company which also has a district in Inez, KY and I just recently stayed there for a week for training. We stayed in Paintsville, KY and I was impressed with some of the areas that I saw while down there and the beauty of the mountains there. I am from West Virginia and the same has been aired about us. Why was the bad focused on and none of the positive shown except for the coal mine owners' home? I am sorry but drugs are everywhere and poverty is everywhere. And the section at the end about the incest, it is everywhere. And I think that no consideration was taken for the underage girl in the program and showing here families faces. Two co-workers from the Inez District are up here for jobs in WV and we were discussing the program and they stated that the girl went back to school and where the faces were shown of the other parties involved, everyone knew and she ended up quitting school. Thanks for helping out an already horrible situation. Did you even consider the consequences that would occur to the family? No. That, in my opinion was done in exceptionally poor taste. Another comment I would like to make is people from that area who are posting comments on this message board it would behoove them to check their spelling before they start making comments and all it does is perpetuate an already bad situation and it is a reflection of poor education.
