I'm guessing from your webname that you're a female?   So let me ask you a reasonable question if I may.  You're sitting home watching tv with your kids and you experience a break-in....what are you going to do??   Call 911 and wait??    Can you afford to wait as long as it will take for a response?   Do you have "something" to excercise your God given right to self-defense with?   Are you aware that law enforcement doesn't even have a duty to respond to your emergency?  Are you aware that firearms are used approximately two million times a year to prevent a criminal act?  Are you aware that of these times that the simple brandishment of a firearm solves the situation with nobody getting hurt??   Are you aware that concealed carry permit-holders  commit less crime than policemen do??    If you can answer these questions honestly and still be confident that your government will protect you then I suppose it won't do any good to ask you  to do some research before hating firearms!   All I can say is "good luck"...I presume you have fire insurance but you probably wouldn't do without it and you really don't "think" you're going to have a fire do you??   I, on the other hand, have never had to use my fire insurance but I have used a firearm to protect myself once, with no injuries.   I'll keep  supporting the second amendment  because I work with law enforcement every day and I personally see what happens "out there".
