Do you take into account the incredible amount of resources your car, truck or suv needs? Along with the many carcinogenic chemicals it requires ? The politics of the oil for it ? The wars for the oil for it ? The land for it ? Land that was once alive and fertile ? All the processed foods first originated in a mechanized world. The more mechanized we become the more processed the foods become. ----------------------------- You assume I use/own a car - I don't! I certainly DO NOT use a SUV! I am fully aware of all you have said and that is one of the main reasons I don't have a car! My brother is converting his car to run on waste vegetable oil collected from catering outlets. He also is fortunate to live in a house where all the electricity is powered from a wind turbine and solar cells he made. He is not connected to the national grid. He grows his own organic veg and never needs to go to the super market. He teaches environmental science. My flat mate is a toxicologist specialising in environmental pollution and the effects of agricultural chemicals on people and the environment. My sister is a tropical ecologist, specialising in rainforest restoration and leading a project to restore areas of rainforest and making it economically and environmentally sustainable to the local community.
