A dad here - DON'T do it! Your son will thank you many times over.
Why?
1) The "so he looks like his dad" justification? Come now...if dad has a deformed arm or cleft lip, you're going to try to make him look like that? Obviously, God (or Nature, if you prefer) made him like that...it simply works better. For all male mammals!
2) So he won't be embarrassed in the locker room? From my experience, I don't think most boys/men care to examine circumcision status. Size, yes; but not cut or uncut. Our son (now 19) never had to change in a locker room at school - no problem!
3) UTI - a non issue. Actually, if you read the medical literature, uncircumcised boys seem to have a greater incidence of it. Our son never had the problem - but our daughter had it 3-4 times in her early years...but we didn't decide to circumcise her!
4) Greater sexual pleasure. Ok, so not an issue until later, but studies show that this is the case - most American women have never had the opportunity to know the difference and our men never had/will have the opportunity to know.
Before caving into pressure or opinion, get informed! Check out this site - it will help immensely in making that decision. http://www.nocirc.org/articles.
