think of wimax as "internet access anywhere". it has a huge range and b/c it operates at a lower frequency, can handle obstacles your typical wi-fi signal can't. it has potential. though, they're still a little perplexed on what kind of security to use to keep folks from siphoning off service. personally, i prefer my hardwires to signals through the air--know all those nifty pay-to-play hotspots in airports, coffee shops, and bookstores? infinitely hackable.
