Diagnosing pet illnessness is not for the uninitiated.  Many compounds made for people are toxic in animals.  If you don't love your animals enough to take them to someone trained to care for them, you shouldn't own them.  Animals re not statements of personal belief--they are living creatures that have put their full faith in you, the owner, to do whatever it takes to keep them healthy and pain free.
