I would like to respond to your message, I am 49 female and have advanced emphysema, as well, and have for a few yrs. now. I fell like a prisoner of the earth until my death. I cannot climb stairs, even a few, withough gasping for breath. I am not but a little overweight, it's not due to that. SMOKING unfortunately has gotten me to where i am today. I quit smoking almost 3 years ago but it's too late. My lung specialist says i'll never get any worse, but i'll never get any better. It's very sad. I still work FT and keep slightly active but my health sucks. lots of $$$ for meds, too. Don't get me wrong, i am not feeling sorry for myself. Just a little warning of where one's life can end up living on the other side of a cigarette. Peace!!
