Maybe it depends on the weather.  No one wants to go to a July 4th Parade around here.  It's too hot!  But, this is always a RED state. 

 

A story in the Toronto Sun says ex-Beetle John Lennon turned into a closet Republican before he died.  They say he even met Ronald Reagan.   I'm pretty sure Lennon never went to July 4th Parades as a child.
