Isn't UNOS already the ones deciding who is and isn't deserving of the few kidneys donated? That system is hardly fair.
My mom died years ago from kidney failure, she was called in 3 times for potential cadaver kidneys that might have matched, each time the kidney went to patents who were much healthier than my mom. The system seemed very prejudiced against diabetics even though my mom had type one from the time she was a kid. At least if people could pay, there might be some fairness, right now it's up to the mercy of a pager or a relative that can donate.
