First step is figuring out what you're passionate about -- what excites you? One idea is to think of what your friends do that has always intrigued you? Pull out the Sunday help wanteds and circle words and phrases and positions that excite you -- paying no mind to the jobs...sometimes that helps to paint a picture of what you're drawn to. See if your local college has any kind of career forum for adults -- maybe there's an open house to attend. Look into companies like Aquent.com that place people with your degrees, depending on your experience and interests.
Also, don't dismiss the time at home as irrelevant to the workplace. What kinds of projects and things have you done that could translate on the job? What stuff did you love doing for free that you wouldn't mind getting paid for?
Once you know what you want, it's a lot easier to chart a plan to go after it. Good luck
