I disagree with you. I don't believe most Americans realize what sacrifices soldiers are making I disagree with that as well. Not even our president understands what those soldiers are going through. If he did he might have went about this war another way. I too was ignorant as to what exactly the soldiers sacrifice until I married my husband who is in the army. I feel so terrible that it took me being put in the situation for me to realize what these soldiers really do for us. Not only are they fighting this senseless war they are still having to keep peace around the world in places like Korea, Bosnia, Kosavo and many other places. They are also expected to be ready when a disaster strikes. I.E. the tsunami the hurricanes,9/11. They are more then just killing machines alot of them dont join the war in hopes to see action. Some join in hopes to bring peace. Lets not forget that.
