Jesus was celibate, as were a number of other people mentioned in the Bible

You have no idea if Jesus was celibate or not.

There is no indication whatsoever that Jesus was ever married, The Da Vinci Code notwithstanding.  If he was UNMARRIED, he was celibate. All forms of sexual intimacy outside of heterosexual marriage were forbidden by the Law of Moses.

 

That's what he preached, and that's how the sinless Son of God lived.
