Not all of them. Many of the virgin forests are being cut down and sent to Japan who have used much of their resources all ready. These old growth lumber are being used for the most mundane things .

Let's take an example you might be able to understand. Reforestation is the equivalent of replacing a Ferrari with a moped. Both will get you from point a to point b, but the moped is definitely not the more valuable resource.

 

Old growth forests are habitats. They allow a wide range of biodiversity. They allow #### storage. they provide enormous strength to the soil and permit development of a wide range of speciation.

 

Reforestation plants quick growing junk trees that provide nothing of the above but  allow the company to harvest every few years. they provide no habitat. they provide no root depth to hold soil in place. They provide almost no #### storage.
