My name is Christopher Hawkins. I am soon to be the brother-in-law of one Angela Bercheni. About three months ago my niece , Angela's daughter, fell ill with a temperature of 103 degrees. She was in such ill health that Angela had to call off work. She called in to the resturant that she works at in Lincoln Pk. Michigan only to be met with hostility. The boss co-owner told Angela her services at her job would not be needed and that she should take the week off. This said in not the apropriate way that i am currently recapping . Angela who was affraid to take the time off and in need of the money that the hours would provide, agreed to call in for her schedule next week. Upon calling for her schedule she noticed that her hours were greatly cut. She then aproached management/owners and was informed that her job was in jeopardy. When she questioned the reasons she was met with the reply that she was ,in her boss' own words, " a liability" because she was pregnant.                          It has now been 3 going on 4 months Angela has been working her new "liability" hours. And it has taken its toll on Angela's lifestyle and her daughter's. Angela has suffered along with her young daughter. in the means of not being able to provide like she was working to do before her cut in hours. Wich means stretching the childs shoe size by half a size to save money for other odds and ends. Not to mention feeding the child within the means of her new budget. I for one am highly upset to watch my baby sister-in-law and my niece of my bloodline suffer because of an ideal that the women of this nation have fought to keep out of our social environment. Sexual Discrimination!! This may be stipulation, but i have lived in the area of this buisness for many years. I have heard of these 2 buissness men by various females in the area, and they hire according to a different status, not of who is most capable to do the job. Enough bad mouthing them though.                      The bottom line is this, Sexual Discrimination is not at all a very nice thing, It, in its ignorance, is quite disturbing that this idea has made the stomachs of my closest relatives hurt., literally no over exadgeration. It has affected the life of a child who's new summer wardrobe will probably come from a second hand store this year.It has taken a mental toll on my sister, who is now starting to accept that this sort of behavior by people in the position to lead as okay!! My once vibrant younger sister-in-law has not had a moments rest of being content and knowing that her seed is taken care of ecspecially if there were a sudden issue of money.      Also in accepting this as apropriate she passes that type of acceptance to her daughter. WICH WE AS AMERICANS CAN NOT SAY IT HARD ENOUGH.... NO!! WE WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO SUPRESS OUR IDEAS OF EQUAL OPPROTUNITY. If we allow this unpunished, we may as well allow the terrorist ideas of crushing our beliefs in FREEDOM.                          I have turned to you for an advocate that is willing to fight!! please see this through as though it were your daughter doing right by working hard and going to school that it may never happen to them!! thank you.
