I bought my house Dec. 2005, this house ended up being a bad omen. My problem started out with a property tax issue. The amount of money I paid I assumed the taxes were included. When I went to pay the supplemental taxes the city was going to work out a payment plan for the regular taxes but told me to wait until April when the next one was due. My mortgage company went in the very next day and paid all the taxes and refunded my supplemental taxes to an escrow account. Then came the war of them wanting there money now. If I had the money now I would have paid my own taxes. So they threatened foreclosure. When I called to work out a payment plan they informed me since I was current on the mortgage they could not work with me on the taxes. In the meantime, my other property the tenant I had to evict. At time of eviction she owed $4150. So both places were in trouble. I received a notice of default in September. I didn't know what it all meant until I contacted an attorney in December. We had to work fast since the sale date would be Jan 4, 2008. I filed a Chapter 7 to buy some time. Once the Chapter 7 was filed the bank froze all my accounts. I am self-employed with a family child care and one child of my own. My medical and other bills are automatically taken out of my account. The bank left me with $2.11. I was informed I would have to go to court when the bankruptcy date is set. I can't express the anger I have. I had a bad loan that caused a spiral down affect in my life. Then no money for food. Something is wrong with this system. Before I filed Chapter 7 I asked for a loan modification which was denied.
