My thoughts on atheists are that they're a people who have decided that God (the God of this nation and the Father of Christ Jesus) is a God that wants to hold them accountable for their actions and thoughts. They simply don't want to be accountable, so they deny His existence. I watched the segment with Ray Comfort and Kirk Cameron (where they faced off with a couple of atheists) and I was struck by the fact that Ray and Kirk were "shooting from the hip," whereas the atheists had to write down their arguments and read from a script. Hm. Interesting. I also see that they're crass, angry, and flat out rude and can be insulting. Anyone who sees that segment will see that the female atheist enjoyed taking shots at the Christians and showed a hint of triumph when she was able to illicit a laugh from the crowd at their expense. If you had to pick between Kirk and the atheist as a person to have a joyful conversation with, who would you pick? I know the one I'd avoid. Rude hostility seems to give them an illusion of respectability. They don't address people with much respect in this subject. I ask you why, if you don't believe in God, do you work so hard to communicate about Him? God is in us all and atheists work to rid themselves of Him.Their only way to do it is by convincing themselves with science and trying to convince others. They're a foolish people who have the highest of minds regarding themselves. They're haughty. They assume to know so much that they actually believe they can disprove ancient writings and architectural proof of an era and people that existed. They're selfish. They wish to smash other people's dreams and faith so it makes them feel more assured that they're right. If you don't believe in God, why would you go around destroying another person's faith? What's the point in that? If I am happy believing in God, then why do I deserve to have an atheist come up to me and tell me I'm wrong. That's like walking up to a college student you don't know and telling them that they're studying the wrong subject just because you wouldn't study it for yourself. What better way for an individual to "take control" of their lives than to deny the One that's said to have a kind of control (when we yield and allow Him to do His work in us)? I've never been able to see an atheist as anything other than a pitiful soul that is screaming inside at God and desiring their ways above His. It's the ultimate betrayal of His grace and mercy. The proof is in their desperation to take others with them. Why? Because misery loves company.
