Hi my name is karena and I write children's stories.  One of my stories deals with the absent father who is at war.  The name of the story is Sometimes Dreams Come True.  Its about a little boy who's father is on his way to war.  He does't  want his father to go and he hugs him tight and cries.  But his father told him I will miss you son but remember all the good times we've had and I will do the same it will help us stay strong while I am gone.  The little boy did what his dad said.  One night when he was asleep he dreamed that dad came back and ran into his mothers room and dad wasn't at home yet and mom said sometimes dreams do come true.  I think this story would help a child understand and deal with an absent parent at war.  It is not yet published but hopefully it would be soon.
